AllMusic Review by Sean Westergaard:
Organ, guitar, and drums are a classic combination, but they've never sounded quite like this before. Collectively, Danny Frankel, Nels Cline, and Larry Goldings have been on a ridiculous number of albums, but this is the first time they've played together as a unit. You can't really call it a trio session because at least Frankel did some overdubbing (you never know with Nels) and there's even a tasty snippet of backwards drums, so they weren't afraid of using some studio trickery (there's a bit of backwards guitar too, but again, you never know with Nels). There's a great deal of humor and playfulness throughout and even when the tunes get a bit dark and moody, it's more a sense of mystery than menace. But then they're quickly back to something snappy, generally buoyed along by Frankel's bongos. No elaborate compositions here, nothing too serious: just three great musicians getting together for a fun little record.
