If you are familiar with the Ace label, then you know that everything that they put out is top notch. I have a ridiculous number of John Lee Hooker LP's. This contains all uptempo songs from his recordings on the Modern label. The sound quality is great, but does not mask the rawness of these recordings. The vinyl itself is thick and solid. As you can see, the cover is a work of art. The price might intimidate you, but I think it's worth it. There are so many bootleg reissues coming out right now. While they're cool reproductions of otherwise expensive LP's, not all contain great songs. I wouldn't call this a "best of". "Boom Boom" is not on it (for a change). If you're willing to spend this much on a John Lee Hooker LP, a best of is most likely not what you are looking for. Enjoy!
